SGS adds fire assay to Elko, USA laboratory

SGS is pleased to announce the addition of a new fire assay laboratory to our facility in Elko, Nevada, USA. This expansion is the most recent in a series of investments that SGS has made to serve the geochemical testing needs of the North American mining industry.

The Elko facility will offer gold analysis by fire assay, with AA or gravimetric finish to clients in the southwestern US. This expansion will allow the lab to handle gold analysis, including screen metallic assay, with industry standard approaches using 30-50g charges. The location of the Elko lab will allow SGS to offer local clients quick turn-around testing. The fire assay capabilities will be fully operational in the 4th quarter of 2012.

The expansion of services will strategically support the growing needs of the minerals industry in the southwestern US. Around the world, SGS offers a wide range of services to the minerals sector including geochemical analysis, resource calculation, mineralogy, metallurgy, advanced systems, water treatment and trade services.
