As allAfrica reports, students at the University of Liberia, Geology Department had the chance to gain experience in working with SEMS Exploration mining software. The company donated the software worth US$ 1 million to the University and provided the technical training.
The Country Manager of SEMS Exploration in Liberia Mr. Joe Collins said the training is part of his company’s social obligation to build capacity in the mining sector. The aim of the MapInfo discoveries software is to help students combine data from geo-chemistry to geo-physics and integrate them.
He explains that due to the lack of exposure to mining software, foreign geologists are taking jobs that can be done by Liberians.
