Santacruz Silver Mining (TSXV: SCZ) reported on Thursday that a fatality occurred at its Rosario project located in Charcas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, on Saturday, June 19.

The deceased was an underground miner, the company said, and the accident took place at the Membrillo mine area as a result of a rock fall.

Santacruz said personnel immediately followed rescue protocols, and authorities arrived shortly thereafter at the mine to review the accident site.

“Safety is a core value at Santacruz and we will thoroughly investigate this accident and take remedial action,” Carlos Silva, CEO of Santacruz, said in a news release.

The Rosario mine produced 128,245 ounces of silver in 2020.
