Sandvik’s SanRemo is a productivity service with remote data collection and casting. It is available, at the first phase, to Sandvik surface top hammer drills. The service provides new kind of comfort for contractors as job site data and reports are at their fingertips wherever they may roam.
Real-time remote data collection and casting opens new, revolutionary avenues for the drilling business. This kind of information service increases productivity and saves a lot of trouble, money and time. It helps the users in making well-grounded production plans and maintenance schedules as well as relieves them of continuous job site visits. Instead, they can access SanRemo service on the web or with a mobile phone.
The service offers rig and production information such as engine hours, drilled meters, times per hole and other such matters. It also provides the opportunity to monitor and improve upon the general utilization levels of the equipment throughout the working day. Based on the SanRemo data, users can give more accurate offers to their clients and better document how the work is proceeding. SanRemo also offers users the opportunity to export reports to other systems and send them out as e-mail attachments, for example.
– I’ve been using the test service for a while already and my experiences have been very positive. I can now attach a report on drilled meters in my invoice which my customers really appreciate. A clear benefit is also the report on penetration rates which helps me give very accurate offers, especially when we have many small contracts at the same site. And I can’t say that I mind staying at home and logging on the web instead of driving around the country fetching job reports, says Heikki Thil, owner of a Finnish construction company Varkauden Louhinta.
Precise maintenance schedules are another benefit from the SanRemo service. Based on the real-time information, it is easy to foresee the machine’s need for service and prepare for it in advance. SanRemo also includes a tracking function that shows the machine location. The function greatly helps transportation planning and supervision as well as saves time whenever service technicians need to find their way to the job site. The tracking function can be used for guarding the machines against theft too.
The SanRemo hardware includes a data collection module and a GPS receiver installed on the rig, and the system applies Internet, GSM, GPRS or WLAN technologies. There are two different versions of SanRemo service available: one is targeted at meeting the needs of construction customers and the other one is tailored for the mining business. Currently, the service is supplied in certain market areas, such as US, Spain, Sweden and Finland, where our telecommunication partner guarantees coverage. However, the system is compatible with any operator service.
SanRemo service is available for old Sandvik surface top hammer drill rigs* as the hardware components can be installed in them, too.
