New book ‘102 Things to Do with a Hole in the Ground‘ spotlights global reclamation projects
Stories of reinvented coal mining regions, regenerated communities and rebuilt ecosystems are told in a new book published this month.
In the never-ending quest to find really cool places to roller blade, film makers must have scored a coup when they were given permission to “bomb” down a defunct Polish salt mine.
The high speed stunt went viral on YouTube with over 300,000 views since it was uploaded this summer.
The video also received a lot of up votes on the popular sharing site Reddit.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine, located in southern Poland near Kraków, produced table salt from the 13th century until 2007. It is one of the world’s oldest operating salt mines.
