The miner said the decision applies to the entire 3,000 square kilometer Lulo site, a project that has bored some massive gems, including the largest diamond ever found in Angola.
Canada’s Ivanhoe Mines and joint-venture partner Zijin Mining have transferred a further 15% interest in their Kamoa-Kakula copper project to the DRC’s government.
Energy and Minerals chief executive Alan Davies said he would take the mining giant to court over his dismissal, adding there were “no grounds” for his termination.
