Ranger Mine fire is out
The Ranger Mine fire was extinguished today.
A park spokesperson told NT News that as long as the weather remains stable, the fire should stay suppressed.
The fire was fought with helicopters and ground crews.
Last week, a controlled burn was lit to manage weeds near Energy Resource Australia’s Ranger Mine. Changing weather conditions caused the burn to grow and spread to nearby Kakadu National Park.
An internal investigation by ERA is looking at the incident.
