As Mining Australia reports, the Government of Queensland offers special scholarships for women in male-dominated industries, such as mining to counter skill shortage. The scholarships are valued at a maximum of $20,000 each over four years. Closing date for applications is on Friday October 12.
With women still representing less than half of the overall workforce in the mining industry, the money on offer is set to encourage women to take on their male counterparts.
State Minister for Education, Training and Employment John-Paul Langbroek announced 500 scholarships […].”This is a great opportunity to boost female participation in traditionally male-dominated industries and train more skilled workers for the areas that need them most,” he said.
