South32 expects to start rebuilding at Mozambique project after post-election hit
Earlier this month, the company retracted its output prediction for the Mozal aluminum smelter in Mozambique.
Platinum could fare better than palladium for the rest of the year Deutsche Bank argues in its latest commodities report:
“While we do not expect a meaningful recovery in European auto markets [where diesel cars that use platinum account for the bulk of sales], we do expect some stability in demand over the next couple of quarters or so. Furthermore we expect that platinum supply could see further cutbacks as economic/social pressures in South Africa mount.
“Furthermore, we expect that platinum could benefit from a stronger gold price, which is anticipated to appreciate in the second half of 2012 as we look for further rounds of accommodative monetary policy to support global growth.”
