The US mining giant also fired back with a deal that seeks merging operations in the state of Nevada.
In 2019, Sherritt's Moa JV is expected to produce between 31,000 and 33,000 tonnes of finished nickel and between 3,300 and 3,600 tonnes of finished cobalt.
If successful, the move will create the world’s largest gold company with a value of around $42 billion at current market prices.
For 2019, the Canadian miner expects to produce between 390,000 and 420,000 ounces of gold.

The miner reported that Proven and Probable gold Reserves reached 17.9 million ounces at the end of 2018.
The gold giant said it would approach the board of Acacia Mining to back the formal proposal that would settle a long-running dispute with the Tanzanian government.
The companies announced their planned all-share tie-up in January, just two weeks after the Barrick-Randgold merger was finalized.
