CHARTS: The coming critical minerals trade war is BRICS short of a load
"While a large number of countries around the world continue to talk about securing raw material supply, China is actually doing something about it."
NHK World reported that Japanese researchers have created a new design for wind turbines that doubles and even triples the power of conventional models.
The wind lense turbines, currently operating at Kyushu University, were developed by Professor Yuji Ohya at the university’s Research Institute for Applied Mechanics.
A lense fits around the outside of the blades which creates a low pressure region beyond the blades and causes the wind to surge through the turbine increasing the blades speed and the power generated.
The university wants to build a massive wind project using the lense technology with a power output of 500,000 Kw, equivalent to a reactor at a nuclear power plant.

very good

i was just saying that today, current wind turbines shut down when the wind is blowing good that’s when to make power

This is more lile it. Time for this energy chess game to heat up with the cream of the renewables rising to the top.

This is a good news story and will be interesting to follow the trial plant performance

Very interesting. I hope this new technology could reach the Philippines soonest.

Wind turbines in the ocean can produce hydrogen gas as well – free fule for our future cars. I’m sure OPEC is NOT going to like it.

You can’t use salt water to make hydrogen, only fresh water.

The Japanese are doing it again by breking new ground. Good luck and I hope it is a huge success…we need this to work, just think zero pollution…

This is the kind of thing that this world needs

One of the keys to wind is that due to ground drag, winds are much stronger at height. This thing cannot take advantage so is suspect in my mind re claims The ring can only concentrate a small section of wind energy which must be applied to the blades for energy extraction I see only BS

dyson made an air cooler / fan using the same technology
