Orano warns of financial problems at Niger uranium plant

BHP Billiton’s (ASX:BHP) subsidiary Illawarra Coal is cutting 36 jobs as part of what it calls an “organizational review,” which will be completed in the middle of this year at its Australian coal mines in the south coast.
According to Illawara Mercury, both contractor and head office positions will be affected by the measure that aims to secure the future competitiveness of the business.
llawarra Coal employs about 2,200 workers and operates three underground coal mines in New South Wales —Appin, West Cliff and Dendrobium—, as well as two coal preparation plants.
