The Virginia Mining Institute has held a 3 day mine rescue contest in Blacksburg with several teams from different states. As reported on WDBJ7.com, there were thirty-six teams attending to proof and improve their rescue skills.
The men were timed and rated in their ability to pass along critical information and still work under what would be horribly tough conditions.
“They say these do sharpen their skills and they’re working together as a team they’re working together under some pressure out here because we are judging them out here as they go,” said Randy Moore, of the Virginia Division of Mines.
