Metso Minerals signs a service contract with Peñoles in Mexico

Metso Minerals has signed a service contract with Servicios Industriales Peñoles, S.A. de C.V. in Mexico. The value of the 5-year contract is approximately EUR 2 million.

The purpose of the contract is to provide and implement a detailed inspection maintenance program on 24 grinding mills at 7 different mine sites across Mexico. Metso service teams are present on-site and they will develop, implement and operate tailor-made maintenance programs. The maintenance programs will maximize the equipment potential and reduce operational risks and downtime.

Peñoles is one of the world’s leading refiners of primary silver. Its mine sites are also responsible for extracting and refining the majority of Mexico’s lead reserves, about one third of its gold reserves and one quarter of its zinc.

Metso Minerals’ team of experts in Mexico has doubled its sales for the Mexican market during the past years. The team of over 150 people is led from Irapuato where Metso Minerals has a sales and service office and a manufacturing facility.
