Metso advocates for more data-driven operations

With the idea of reaching out to progressive clients, Finnish industrial machinery company Metso presented its new digital platform Metso Metrics Services at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 in Las Vegas.

The system was introduced by the company’s Vice President of Service Solutions, Giuseppe Campanelli, who said that the system aims at optimizing mobile crushing and screening equipment operations and maintenance.

Campanelli said that a remote communication device mounted on mobile pieces of equipment is in charge of sharing information with Metso Metrics Services. That information is then presented on a dashboard that shows critical operational and maintenance data, which ranges from utilization rates to production levels and fuel consumption.

“This is ideal for the customer that has machines that have been all over the place, in different parts of the quarry… maybe some customers that have a fleet and they are renting them, so they can see where they are,” Campanelli said.

Talking to MINING.com’s Michael McCrae, Metso’s executive explained how the platform helps control maintenance and inventory costs, and identifies underperforming assets and training opportunities.
