Brazilian Diamonds Limited: company provides update on private placements

Further to its news release of April 14, 2011 the Company announces that it has completed the private placement of 16,655,920 shares at $0.10 per share, the proceeds of which are to be used to fund the costs of the transaction with Origo Partners PLC ("Origo"), as detailed in the April 14 Release and to retire outstanding indebtedness. The private placement closed in two tranches, with 9,700,000 shares issued subject to a hold period expiring September 6, 2011 and the balance of 6,955,920 shares being issued subject to a hold period expiring October 17, 2011.

Silver Predator options Illinois Creek silver-gold property in Alaska

Silver Predator announced that it has signed an option to acquire a 100%-interest in 125 State of Alaska mining claims comprising the Illinois Creek silver-gold district located in west-central Alaska. The past-producing Illinois Creek Mine lies in the southern Kaiyuh Mountains in west-central Alaska about 30 kilometers east of the Yukon River and the small village of Kaltag and 90 kilometers south of the town of Galena.

Denison to proceed to compulsory acquisition of White Canyon Uranium Limited

Denison Mines announced that its Offer to acquire all of the outstanding shares of White Canyon Uranium announced in February 2011, closed on June 17, 2011 with Denison receiving acceptances of 96.98% under the Offer. Denison now intends to proceed with the compulsory acquisition of the remaining shares of White Canyon and the delisting of White Canyon's shares from both the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Australian Securities Exchange.

Bearing Options Zymo Copper-Gold Project in British Columbia

Bearing Resources announced that the Company has entered into an option agreement with Eastfield Resources Ltd. ("Eastfield") to earn up to a 65% interest in the 12,113 hectare Zymo copper-gold project ("Zymo"), located 45 kilometres west of the town of Smithers, British Columbia. Exploration work carried out to date at Zymo, including surface sampling, geophysical testing and core drilling has identified a large copper-gold porphyry system. Four distinct porphyry targets have been identified over an open ended nine kilometre by three kilometre area defined by a coincident copper in soil and induced polarization ("IP") chargeability anomaly.

Power returns to Chile’s mining heartland

Power supplies have returned to normal in Chile's northern mining heartland after a power grid failure hit some of the world's biggest copper mines earlier on Sunday, the mining minister said. Chilean Energy and Mining Minister Laurence Golborne told Reuters power supplies were back to "100 percent" and that the impact on production in the top global copper producer was expected to be minimal.

Gold Fields Ghana acquisition approved

Further to the announcement on 15 April 2011, Gold Fields announced that its shareholders have overwhelmingly approved the US$667 million acquisition of IAMGOLD Corporation's 18.9% stake in the Tarkwa and Damang gold mines in Ghana. Of the 603 million shares (84% of total shares in issues) that were voted at a general meeting 93% were cast in favour of the transaction.

Allana Potash Announces New NI 43-101 Compliant Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources of 673 Million Tonnes and an Increase in Inferred Mineral Resources to 596 Million Tonnes

Allana Potash announced that it has received an updated National Instrument 43-101 ("NI 43-101") compliant Mineral Resource Estimate from ERCOSPLAN Ingenieurgesellschaft Geotechnik und Bergau ("ERCOSPLAN") on its Danakhil Potash Project in Ethiopia. The updated mineral resource estimate includes all four potash bearing beds (sylvinite, upper and lower carnallite and kainitite) in the project and is comprised of Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources totaling 673 Million tonnes with an average grade 18.65% KCl (composite of all four potash beds) and Inferred Mineral Resources totaling 596 Million tonnes with an average grade of 19.96% KCl (composite of all four potash beds).

Newmont Nusa Tenggara IPO won’t happen this year

Martiono Hadianto, president director of Newmont Nusa Tenggara, said the gold miner's IPO is not likely to take place this year. NNT's management had planned to hold the IPO during the second half of this year with the long-delayed divestment process completed by mid-April.

Imports of gold and silver soar 222% in India

The import of gold and silver by India has risen by a whopping 222% between April and May 2011, as compared to a year ago. In the month of May alone, imports were a staggering $9 billion, with gold demand growing 25%. "Even as inflation and a widening trade deficit to $15 billion in May continues to weigh on the minds of Indian investors, the demand for fresh gold has continued to grow."
