Lee Harvey Oswald’s gold wedding ring goes for $118k

Lee Harvey Oswald’s gold wedding band, complete with hammer and sickle engravings on the inside, was purchased at an auction in Boston Thursday for $118,000.

The ring was sold along with 299 other items connected to President Kennedy.

Bobby Livingston of RR Auction, the company organizing the event, called the ring “a very powerful, significant piece of evidence…it gives you such an insight into the mind of Lee Harvey Oswald.”

The ring, expected to fetch over $100,000, was sold not long ago by Oswald’s Russian widow, Marina Oswald Porter, who wants it out of her life:

“At this time of my life I don’t wish to have Lee’s ring in my possession because symbolically I want to let go of my past that is connecting with Nov. 22, 1963.”

These words are part of a 5-page letter penned by Marina, most of which will accompany the ring as a package deal in tomorrow’s sale.
