US-based diamond manufacturing and distribution company Lazare Kaplan International Inc. (LKI) has launched a new social initiative, The Lazare Ongoma Initiative (LOI), which aims involve retailers in supporting education in African countries, such as Namibia.
‘Ongoma’ is word that means “using a drum to make sound” and, as such, tLazare said it lends meaning to its initiative because it hopes to create “that sound” and raise awareness about LKI’s support to education in Africa.
The school chosen is the Five Rand Primary School in Okahandja, Namibia and, according to Diamonds.net, LOI will go hand in hand with another company initiative called The Lazare Diamond® Incentive Program. The later rewards Lazare Diamond retailers and their sales associates who sell and register Lazare Diamonds.
LKI will make a matching donation to The Five Rand Primary School in the name of each sales associate for every registered Lazare Diamond.
