Bloomberg profiles the London Array Project, a US$2.6 billion wind farm that is ready to power half a million homes.

Construction started four years ago in July 2009. The kick off ceremony was last week in Kent where Prime Minister David Cameron who lauded the achievement but said the cost of running future projects must be brought down.

“This project is also a real milestone on the path to cutting the cost of offshore wind. As projects get even bigger and move further offshore, we must continue to harvest the advantages of scale to bring down the costs,” said Cameron.
