Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the General Supervisor, Health and Safety, you will be part of the Health and Safety Department. You will support the implementation of Agnico Eagle’s Health and Safety programs, assisting with the identification, assessment, and control of workplace risks for both operations and construction activities. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Ensure a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors;
- Promote continuous improvement of Health & Safety (H&S) programs and procedures;
- Provide H&S leadership, guidance, and support across all departments;
- Promote a positive safety culture through leadership and engagement;
- Conduct field-level safety interactions, assessments, audits, and inspections;
- Lead or support incident investigations, including ICAM investigations where required;
- Monitor and report on H&S performance metrics;
- Ensure compliance with WSCC regulations and the Nunavut Mine Health and Safety Act;
- Develop and support procedures, practices, and training initiatives;
- Support emergency preparedness and response programs;
- Act as H&S department lead in the absence of the General Supervisor;
- Maintain accurate records of audits, inspections, and corrective actions;
- Foster strong communication and collaboration across construction, operations, and exploration teams;
- Engage internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive community relationships;
- Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and risk assessments;
- Coach and support leaders in applying the Supervision Formula;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Need To Succeed
- Technical diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field;
- Eligibility for a Nunavut Supervisor Level 2 Certificate;
- Experience in the mining industry;
- Strong knowledge of health and safety principles, including prevention and incident investigation;
- Experience with ICAM or similar investigation methodologies is an asset;
- Possession of underground mining modules is an asset;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Ability to deliver presentations to large groups;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Adaptability and ability to manage changing priorities;
- Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Hope Bay is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
