Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About The Role
Schedule: Shift 7/7 – 12 hour days only
Position Reports To: Senior Geologist
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and hard-working individual to join our team as a Geological Labourer for a term of 3-month contract with the potential for a full-time opportunity. The role of the Geological Labourer is to support the Geology team with various tasks which includes/but not limited to sampling, preparation work, and diamond drilling. Ensure all activities are carried out in conformance with Coeur’s policies and procedures including cultural, safety and environmental. No prior experience is required. The successful applicant will receive on the job training to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge required for the position. We are looking for an applicant who will have great attendance, positive work attitude, works safely and has the willingness to learn.
Preference will be given to local residents of the Rainy River District. Please note that travel and accommodations are not available for this role.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Diamond Drillhole sampling.
- Data entry.
- Delivery of samples to assay lab.
- Geotechnical logging of core.
- Sample collection.
- Assay lab prep area work as required.
- Moving core.
- Variety of other geology related tasks.
Qualifications
- Proper sampling techniques.
- Repetitive lifting.
- Proper sample labeling.
- Aptitude to demonstrate safety procedures is essential in this role.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and signage.
- Ability to understand and follow Safety Operating Practices.
- Ability to think and act decisively.
- DDH core movement and other general labour activities as required.
- Must have a valid Canadian Driver's license
Working Conditions
- Working in dusty and noisy environment.
- Shiftwork days only rotations, working inside, outside and variable weather environment.
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $58,000 to 61,000.
