Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Meadowbank Health and Safety Superintendent, you will be a part of the Health & Safety Department and work in close collaboration with all the members of the department and with other departments of the mine. You will supervise the on-site clinics personnel, Industrial Hygiene and Security teams, and ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment
- Promote a safe work environment for all project employees, contractors, and visitors;
- Promote continual improvement for health and safety performance by improving Health & Safety (H&S) programs and procedures, specifically for the Clinic, Hygiene and Security pillars;
- Develop and implement controls to ensure compliance with the Nunavut Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations;
- Provide Health and Safety leadership, guidance, and support;
- Promote a positive H&S culture;
- Coordinate daily and weekly workflows;
- Supervise Nursing, Security, and Industrial Hygiene specialties;
- Perform inspections and assist H&S Superintendent in program development;
- Uphold business continuity and Security management plans and procedures;
- Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation;
- Ensure that job site safety compliance inspections are performed;
- Monitor the risk management framework.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor's degree in industrial relations, Science or related field to Health & Safety;
- Certificate in Organization Health and Safety combined with a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset;
- Oversee work accident management records;
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in Health & Safety supervision or management in the mining / construction industry;
- Background in emergency responses for Surface & Underground mine rescue and medical issues is an asset;
- Must be able to manage numerous projects in a timely manner while recognizing their respective priorities;
- Able to be autonomous and handle several responsibilities at the same time;
- Excellent analytical skills and a team player are essential;
- Relevant experience in managing Industrial Hygiene, Site Security and on-site Clinics is an important asset for this position, such as;
- Experience with managing occupational injuries and corporate reporting and classification guidelines, and worker’s compensation claims;
- Experience with managing workplace exposure hazards and knowledge of ACGIH standards;
- Experience with managing prohibited substances on site and general site security;
- Experience with Management Systems (ISO/OHSAS) and Toward Sustainable Mining;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment is an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
- Advanced ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: Possible rotation alternatives are possible, from:
- 7 days of work, followed by 7 days for transportation and rest
- 10 days of work, followed by 7 days for transportation and rest, or
- 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- With flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
