About Us
Fuerte Metals is a Vancouver-based exploration and development company advancing base and precious metals projects across the Americas. Our flagship asset, the 100%-owned Coffee Gold Project in Canada’s Yukon Territory, is a high-quality gold project progressing through final permitting and engineering in preparation for a construction decision. Alongside Coffee, Fuerte Metals maintains a portfolio of copper and gold assets in Chile and Mexico, supporting the company’s vision of building a diversified mining platform focused on responsible development, strong partnerships, and long-term value creation.
Purpose
To provide site-based environmental governance and leadership to the site Environmental Team, and ensure the Project is following regulatory requirements and Project commitments. This is a rotational role based at the Coffee Gold Project.
Accountabilities
- Accountable for Environmental Management System governance and site environmental compliance, including alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements and environmental performance objectives.
- Accountable for regulatory reporting oversight and compliance risk management, including review and approval of permit-required submissions and engagement with regulators, inspections, and audits.
- Accountable for environmental program planning and performance, including program design, resourcing, budgets, contractor scope direction, and integration of environmental risks into site planning and construction activities.
- Accountable for technical oversight and approval of environmental monitoring programs.
- Accountable for leadership and governance of the Environmental Department.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience as an environmental manager in the mining or natural resources sector.
- Understanding and demonstrated experience in the application of mining and environmental legislation in Canada with a preference for candidates with experience Yukon Territory.
- Strong team leader with experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Highly organized, with the ability to thrive in a complex setting and prioritize competing demands and deadlines.
- Experience working in remote, northern environments.
Work Location & Conditions
- Location: Yukon Territories, Canada
- Remote based role with a preference for Yukon based candidates
- Standard 5-day work week
- Periodic travel to and across the Yukon and Vancouver required
