POSITION SUMMARY:
Coeur Mining is seeking an experienced Land Manager to manage land ownership, rights, and claim tenure in support of exploration programs, capital projects and existing operations. This position will report directly to the Director, Land, and following a transition period, to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. The position will be based at either Coeur’s headquarters in Chicago, IL or its corporate office in Toronto, with consideration given to remote work from another location for strong candidates.
The Land Manager must ensure titles to all claims are maintained in good standing and support the maintenance of legal obligations under various land option agreements. The Land Manager will be responsible for reporting requirements to regulatory authorities in a timely manner and ensure the information is communicated to appropriate internal persons and files (cataloging all claims, abstracts, and legal agreements).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the daily needs and overall land management processes and procedures for all Coeur properties, worldwide
- Lead and/or coordinate land-driven processes and projects for Land Department and with Exploration, Environmental/Permitting, Technical Services, and Operations Departments
- Perform due diligence through research, evaluation and review, compilation of information, curative, and other tasks related to land acquisition, divestment, and management of issues
- Drive the ongoing development and implementation of land management process improvements and best practices
- Lead all activities related to obtaining professional services for various land management activities and management of the use of those services including quotes/proposals, vendor management, communication, costs, and monitoring and validation of services delivered and results
- Lead negotiations for purchasing or leasing property, claims, or concessions
- Provide Landfolio database administration and work with the GIS sub-department
- Maintain company’s physical and digital property records
- Devise strategies to avoid and mitigate risk
- Represent Land Department in various settings in a professional and competent manner
- Ensure superb follow up is provided to continually achieve goals
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Earth Sciences, Business, Law or equivalent experience in Land Management
- Approximately 7-10+ years of experience as a Landman (preferred in mining/oil and gas)
- Certified Professional Landman (CPL) or Registered Professional Landman (RPL) professional designations preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Must be extremely organized and versed in process improvement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong influencing skills with ability to establish rapport and credibility with all levels of the organization
- Domestic/International travel (50%) required
- Location in Chicago or Toronto preferred (relocation benefits provided)
The salary range offered for this role is USD $180k - $220k range. The salary range is a good-faith estimate. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
