Purpose of Role:
The Manager Business Transition is a high-impact, individual contributor role designed to bridge the gap between strategic intent and operational execution. This role serves as a strategic advisor and integrator across the US Business Unit (USBU), leveraging deep expertise in value drivers and process systems design to optimize business processes and drive cost-value realization. The incumbent will lead through influence, partnering with business leaders to unlock efficiencies and support technology-enabled business process design.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Strategic Value & Process Optimization: Support the design and continuous improvement of end-to-end business processes to identify value drivers, maximize ROI, and reduce operational friction.
- Decision Support: Provide critical analysis and frameworks for key governance milestones, including Project Tollgates, Investment Project Reviews (IPRs), and Final Investment Decisions (FIDs).
- Financial Governance: Act as the lead Finance representative for the USBU's growth portfolio, ensuring projects meet rigorous financial criteria during development.
- Investment Evaluation: Develop high-integrity Business Cases with clear opportunity statements, optimized base cases, and valuations of risks/opportunities.
- Asset Integration: Support the integration of assets into the USBU, including post-acquisition integration and the transition of projects to operations.
- Reporting & Governance: Support critical reporting for the Board and Joint Venture (JV) partners to provide clarity on performance and strategic alignment.
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Coordinate Finance and USBU engagements with the Corporate center to ensure local interests are represented globally.
- JV Partner Relations: Manage engagement calendars and deliver high-quality materials for JV partner meetings against established commitments.
- Cost Optimization: Partner with business leaders to identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives across administrative and operational functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior role.
- Technical Skills: Proven expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Proficiency in SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
- Accounting Knowledge: Strong knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP, financial statement analysis, and internal controls.
- Analytical Ability: Exceptional analytical skills with an inquisitive, problem-solving mindset.
- Communication: Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Industry Context: Significant experience in mining, metals, or heavy industrial sectors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional Designations: CPA, CMA, or an advanced degree (MBA) is highly preferred.
- Languages/Regulatory: Knowledge of Arizona tax/regulatory landscapes and Spanish-speaking ability are considered assets.
