About The Role
The Principal Advisor – PMO, Procurement is a senior advisory role responsible for end-to-end Procurement function planning, performance management, reporting, and governance alignment in support of the SimFer. This role provides single-point accountability for Procurement-level reporting and planning, enabling senior leadership to operate with clarity, discipline, and foresight. The role supports senior management, joint venture partners, and governance forums through high-quality insights, structured planning, and best-in-class PMO practices.
Key responsibiities
Strategic Planning & Functional Alignment
- Support annual, quarterly, and rolling planning cycles for the Procurement function aligned with project and operational priorities.
- Coordinate cross-department inputs to develop integrated procurement plans.
- Maintain a forward-looking view of workload, risks, dependencies, and resourcing requirements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Senior Manager Procurement on planning and strategic priorities.
Executive & JV Reporting
- Own all Procurement department reporting to senior leadership and JV governance forums.
- Develop consistent, high-quality reporting on performance, risks, compliance, and improvement initiatives.
- Provide forward-looking insights and analysis to support decision-making.
- Ensure reporting meets executive and JV standards for clarity, accuracy, and governance.
Senior Stakeholder & Forum Support
- Support and coordinate Procurement leadership meetings, cross-functional forums, and JV review meetings.
- Prepare executive-level briefing packs, dashboards, and presentations.
- Ensure Procurement inputs are aligned and well-governed across forums.
- Support informed and timely decision-making.
Systems, Data & Reporting Excellence
- Act as SME for Procurement systems, data, and reporting frameworks.
- Lead development and continuous improvement of dashboards and KPIs.
- Ensure systems provide visibility of performance, risks, and forward commitments.
- Champion data integrity and transparency.
Process Improvement & PMO Excellence
- Identify and support Procurement process improvement initiatives.
- Standardise PMO practices, planning cadence, and reporting.
- Support cross-functional alignment on ways of working.
- Enable a culture of continuous improvement and disciplined execution.
What You'll Bring
- Significant experience in a senior PMO, Principal Advisor, or performance management role.
- Strong understanding of procurement, commercial, or project-based environments.
- Proven experience delivering executive and JV-level reporting.
- Strong governance, compliance, and assurance capability.
- Ability to influence senior leaders without direct authority.
- Advanced capability in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.

About The Simandou Project
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is Africa’s largest infrastructure and mining project and represents one of the largest known reserves of high-grade iron ore in the world.
Rio Tinto holds rights to Simandou Blocks 3 and 4 through SimFer, a joint venture between the Government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH). Construction of the mine, together with the associated rail and port infrastructure, is well underway with first production from the SimFer mine expected in 2025.
