Faraday Copper recently announced it has entered into a non-binding letter of intent to acquire BHP’s San Manuel property in Arizona, creating a multi-asset copper district in the USA. As we transition from exploration to project development, we are seeking a strategic and hands‑on Director of Human Resources to build and lead our HR function within a dynamic environment.
The Director of Human Resources is a key member of the project leadership team and will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing the human resources strategy, policies, and programs. This role will support organizational growth as the project advances, ensuring compliance with U.S. federal and relevant state regulations, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.
This is a strategic and operational role suited for an HR leader experienced in natural resources, construction, or other industrial sectors where workforce planning, compliance, and culture-building are critical.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the company’s growth from development through construction and operations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team on organizational structure, workforce planning, talent acquisition, and employee development.
- Build HR capabilities, systems, and processes suitable for a growing mining organization.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Design and execute recruitment strategies for technical and site-based roles.
- Support ramp-up workforce planning for future operations.
- Build relationships with local communities, colleges, trade schools, and workforce organizations.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-first workplace culture.
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on performance management, conflict resolution, and coaching.
- Lead initiatives that support diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workforce.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Develop and manage competitive compensation and benefit programs aligned with market benchmarks.
- Assist the CFO with payroll coordination (outsourced or internal).
- Implement HR policies, employee handbooks, and procedures in accordance with federal and state labor laws.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with employment legislation, including MSHA, OSHA, FLSA, EEOC, and state-specific requirements.
Training & Development
- Implement training programs to support professional growth, regulatory compliance, and safety culture.
- Support leadership development and succession planning as the team grows.
HR Systems & Reporting
- Establish HR systems and data processes to support effective decision-making.
- Track key HR metrics (turnover, hiring timelines, engagement, training hours, etc.) and report to senior leadership and the Board as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in mining, heavy industry, resources, construction, or similarly regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated success in building HR programs and scaling organizations through growth phases.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
- Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
- Thrives in a dynamic, high-energy environment and enjoys working alongside a positive and collaborative team.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software solutions (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint)
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Ability and willingness to be based in Arizona, U.S.
Preferred
- HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent).
- Experience in project development, construction ramp-up, or startup environments.
- Experience with workforce planning for mining or construction operations.
Compensation includes base salary, discretionary cash bonus and equity awards, and health benefits.
