Position Overview
The Mechanical QA/QC Engineer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of all mechanical works throughout project execution. The role ensures compliance with project specifications, international standards, client requirements, and applicable codes. The engineer is responsible for inspections, documentation, testing oversight, and verification of mechanical systems to guarantee successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspection
- Conduct inspections for mechanical installations, including piping, equipment, HVAC, fire protection, and rotating/static equipment.
- Review and verify material certificates, vendor documentation, and mechanical equipment compliance with specifications.
- Perform dimensional, visual, and functional inspections in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Witness and validate testing activities such as hydrostatic tests, pneumatic tests, NDT, leak tests, and commissioning checks.
Quality Assurance
- Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC procedures, method statements, and inspection plans.
- Ensure adherence to international standards such as ASME, ASTM, API, ISO, and project-specific codes.
- Conduct internal quality audits and support external audits by clients and certification bodies.
- Identify non-conformities, raise NCRs, and lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare inspection reports, quality dossiers, test records, and turnover/handover documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date QA/QC records, logs, and quality documentation systems.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure full compliance.
- Ensure all mechanical systems are fully documented for final project closeout.
Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors regarding inspections and quality matters.
- Provide technical support and guidance to site teams on quality requirements.
- Attend quality meetings and provide updates on inspection status and compliance issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3–10+ years of experience in Mechanical QA/QC roles (depending on seniority level).
- Strong knowledge of international mechanical standards and codes (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO).
- Experience in construction, oil & gas, MEP, manufacturing, or industrial projects.
- Certification in QA/QC or NDT (CSWIP, ASNT Level II, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) is an advantage.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and technical specifications.
- Strong communication, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
