JOB SUMMARY
• Provide support and may occasionally lead trade activities, be responsible for end-to-end post sales support and ensure all functions are executed in a timely manner in accordance with corporate governance and compliance policies.
• Develop and maintain data-driven analytics dashboards as a key tool to support sales strategies, identify arbitrage opportunities, track relative price changes and comparative product performance to maximize revenues and increase effectiveness of product placing.
• Provide support for pricing recommendations for spot sales, including sales rationale, product premiums and freight differentials.
MAIN CHALLENGES
• Ensure Spot Desk activities are executed in accordance with commercial guidelines and procedures, maintain proper documentation and ensure timely execution of tasks.
• Proactive in pursuing commercial opportunities with clients while balancing between maximizing price realization and allocating volumes across different markets.
• Able to navigate a fast-paced and very dynamic environment and collaborate with stakeholders from different geographies.
• Adept at managing internal and external stakeholders expectations, ensure clear communication, alignment and ownership between various parties.
• Partner with internal teams such as Sales Administration, Shipping Ops and Legal located across different geographies and time zones.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Negotiate commercial contracts with clients and be familiar with contractual clauses to eliminate or minimize any risks and exposures.
• Take ownership of post sales operations to ensure a smooth end-to-end process. These include but are not limited to contract signing, vessel nomination and movements, monitoring of LOI, return of OBLs, AR collection and LC matters.
• Coordinate sales opportunities and prepare sales offers to clients through our global sales offices in Brazil, Europe and JKT.
• Plan and execute sales promptly either through the tender system or online platforms.
• Create and maintain data analytics and prepare regular sales reports to enable Spot Desk to strategize decisions effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure timely sales recognition for monthly and quarterly accruals.
• Collaborate closely with GSP/ IPA on allocations for Strategic Spot Sales and optimize the sales plan to unlock the best value for each cargo
• Constantly seek improvements and propose new initiatives to support Spot Desk activities.
• Develop and maintain all VPS-related activities and information.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Relations, Data Analytics or other relevant disciplines.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in commercial/analytical/trading function with good understanding of contracts, trade finance and shipping.
• Knowledge of the iron ore industry and experience in dealing with trading companies, information providers, sales platforms is advantageous.
• Proficiency in SAP, R, Python, PowerBI, eBL platforms is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Mandarin to liaise with overseas counterparts is a plus.
