Mineral Resource Manager
Position Description
The Mineral Resource Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for leading and managing key Mineral Resource functions to support Barrick Hemlo site operations. This role requires an individual who is safety-driven and capable of working with a diverse team from both technical and operational backgrounds. The selected applicant will oversee underground grade control, resource modeling, and mineral resource growth.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain systems ensuring geological functions are carried out safely and in line with industry best practices.
- Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on production, reconciliation performance, and present results.
- Ensure effective grade control to maximize grade and gold ounces.
- Oversee annual budget preparation and manage departmental costs.
- Manage diamond drilling contractors to meet safety and performance targets.
- Ensure depleted reserves and resources are replaced through execution of Resource Growth drill programs in alignment with the Life-of-Mine plan, maintaining a balanced pipeline of early and advanced-stage projects.
- Lead the estimation, classification, and reporting of mineral resources in accordance with NI 43-101 standards and company guidelines.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing geology team, fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence.
- Collaborate with Mine Planning, Engineering, and Operations teams to support mine production and strategic planning.
- Oversee the collection, validation, and interpretation of geological data to improve resource modeling and mine planning.
- Ensure compliance with Barrick’s safety policies and provincial and federal regulations in all geological activities.
- Prepare and present resource updates, exploration results, and geological insights to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Identify and implement innovative technologies and best practices to enhance geological processes and resource management.
- Foster collaborative relationships across various departments, including geology, metallurgy, maintenance, projects, and finance functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an asset.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in mineral resource estimation and geological operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation or eligibility for registration.
- Proven track record in mineral resource estimation, exploration, and geological modeling.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, etc.).
- Experience in gold mining operations and familiarity with underground mining environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of NI 43-101 reporting standards.
- Experience and familiarity with Ontario Mining Regulations

Hemlo has produced more than 21 million ounces of gold and has been operating continuously for more than 30 years.
