About Your Role
Oyu Tolgoi LLC is operating a copper-gold mine in southern territory of Mongolia. The company aspires a vision ‘Natural wealth to enduring value, knowledge, and skill’, and pursues a mission, 'Together deliver a safe and globally competitive copper business that contributes to the prosperity of Mongolia' to build one of the largest copper-gold mine worldwide. The incumbent works to deliver these mission and vision, together with all members of the company, while supporting the OT Underground Project (OTUG) and Future Growth Studies for the purpose of achieving its organizational strategic plan.
The function of this role relates to providing accurate and credible maintenance of schedules (including progress reporting), timely cost insights and rigorous cost management, clear and accurate reporting and document control.
- Develops and implements the project controls processes including all aspects of planning forecasting cost control and supporting functions.
- Identifies and implements improvement opportunities for streamlining work process.
- Applies discipline governance and quality assurance across capital projects.
- Maintains relationships with key stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation and improvement.
- Analyses and reports progress to plan to provide a firm basis for strategic and operational decisions.
- Manages and develops the performance of the team in line with Rio Tinto’s company values, in order to achieve objectives.
- Contributes to the capital projects guidance and protocols in the capital projects framework.
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have the following
- Outstanding commitment to HSE and Quality
- At least 10 years’ experience of working within a Project Controls Function
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency and reliability.
- Deliver to plan by enabling the team to translate targets into actions with a focus on the key performance drivers and critical controls.
- Make informed decisions based on a thorough analysis of key business information and metrics and the associated risks, benefits and trade-offs.
- Effectively manage the deployment of capital and assets to balance short- and longer-term business requirements.
- Proactively seek improvement opportunities and initiate innovative solutions that lead to improved business performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of an integrated delivery team
- An ability to work autonomously within a highly complex project delivery environment
- A can-do attitude that seeks to provide solutions and a desire for continuous improvement desire to pass on your wealth of industry experience and knowledge in order to accelerate development of capability and knowledge amongst the company and contractor national workforce.

Where you will be working
Oyu Tolgoi is an operating Copper / Gold open pit mine with a brownfields underground mining project. The site is located in the Gobi desert region of Mongolia. The reserves case for the underground project is in the order of 0.5 billion tonnes of ore to be mined from the 95,000 tonnes per day Hugo North Lift 1 (HNL1) panel cave mine with a 20 year operations life. There is also the potential for 3 further block cave districts to increase mine life beyond 100 years.
