ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent 9-day fortnight working arrangement – DIDO to our Worsley Alumina Refinery, which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes) or Bunbury (35 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities. It is expected site travel to the Bunbury Port and Boddington Bauxite Mine may also be required subject to role requirements.
As the Principal Human Resources with South32 you will provide strategic advice, guidance and specialist support for an allocated area to drive human resource practices forward, driving continuous improvement in people and culture related areas.
The incumbent acts as a change agent. They use data to identify trends and develop insights that enable them to constructively challenge, influence, anticipate and plan for future business needs and priorities. They have the capability and credibility to identify and implement people strategies that deliver value and support the achievement of Worsley’s business goals and desired culture. The role influences key leadership teams at VP level and below, acts as a leadership coach to these teams while also coaching and supporting HRBPs and HR Coordinators within an allocated client group.

Leadership accountabilities.
- Development of, and input into, business strategies and organisational policies to enable the people agenda for allocated client groups within South32.
- Constantly seeks to solve problems and find better ways of working. Considers the big picture and how all parts of a system fit together and can be improved. Uses data to diagnose issues, inform decisions and actions.
- Builds productive relationships within and across teams and the business. Navigates conflicting priorities and trade-offs to achieve what is best for South32 overall.
Individual accountabilities
- Ensure understanding and technical knowledge to deliver people related programs (e.g. policy and system development, employee & industrial relations, performance management).
- Develop and implement policy, procedures and strategic people initiatives aligned to agreed business requirements to maximise opportunities, support change and manage risk.
- Support HRBPS where required to undertake all facets of the employee life cycle including performance reviews, workforce planning, talent and succession planning, culture.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll be a highly skilled senior HR professional with experience in partnering with business leaders to drive change and deliver results. Your expertise will include:
- Project management for initiatives that operate across multiple areas.
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal & presentations).
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies.
- Excellent negotiation, influencing and persuasion skills. Able to effectively and creatively challenge people, situations and current thinking.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of working in an mining or industrial environment across all areas of the employee lifecycle, and have strong industrial and employment relations exposure.
Qualifications for this position are:
Educational Background: Relevant degree or appropriate experience (preferable in HR/IR Organisational Behaviour, Change Management)
- 10 plus years of experience working in human resources or an associated discipline. 5 years in a senior and / or leadership role.
- Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a strong partner service ethic to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and influence senior leaders in an operational environment.
