PS Officer Specialised where you will be responsible for supervising and developing the team of Technicians and Assistant Technicians, within an Anglo American Platinum Operation to ensure that they perform their duties and that employees and assets are protected within the law. Technical and Systems support, maintenance, installations, advice and recommendations for advanced / improved technology will be part of the activities of this role.

Job Description
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Effective provision of Technical Support and Supervision of the Security Technical department
- Inspect all company property within delegated area of responsibility.
- Risk assessment and hazard identification
- Continuously liaise with the Supervisor on technical activities.
- Ensure that safety and legal standards are adhered to in performing technical duties.
- Ensure that operating standards and procedures are up to date and understood by the team.
- Monitor and advise on the settings of monitoring equipment to optimize performance.
- Control issuing and receiving of all equipment and spares
- Issue, receive and register all equipment in the department
- Ensure that materials, resources and equipment are available and in working order for the teams requirements Conducts inventory and stock checks on a monthly basis.
- Compile accurate technical reports including incident and investigation reports.
- Complete applicable safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports for area.
- Ensure that accurate labour records including overtime worked are maintained for the team where applicable.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers.
- Complete regular audits and observations required in the Unit.
- Ensure that system administration requirements are complied with
- Ensures that all tasks and duties and subordinate tasks and duties are done, as prescribed and in accordance with standard procedures and in a confidential manner
- Effective liaison with Protection Services specialists
- Document and report all disciplinary actions taken
- Regularly check reports for any irregularities and disturbances and report on that
- Support disciplinary and grievance inquiries
- Identify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications
- Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding ER policy
- Abides by and understand all security codes, standards, procedures and orders
- Identify opportunities to improve security and access systems
- Participation in improvement projects within Protection Services
- Support efforts to overcome operational problems
- Identify risks and threats to the process/functions proactively
- Communicate effectively with Line Manager
- Encourage co-operation and teamwork between team, clients, service-providers and vendors
- Support of HR initiatives and participate in meetings and seminars
- Forward complaints and recommendations to security manager
This role is at C4 level reporting to the PS Senior Superintendent
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Registered with PSIRA Grade B
- Advantageous: formal qualification / certificate in technical field / technology
Certifications
- Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license
- Registered with PSIRA Grade B
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in Security or equivalent environment of which 2 years should be in supervisory position.
- CCTV surveillance systems and control room systems experience (install, configure & maintain).
- Access Control Systems experience (install, configure & maintain).
- Biometric / Wave Reader experience (install, configure & maintain).
- Alarm / Early warning systems experience (install, configure & maintain).
- Advantageous: Experience in installation, configuring & maintenance of turnstiles, metal detectors and walk-through metal detectors, seismic systems, key control systems
Knowledge And Skills
- Communications in English (spoken, written and reading)
- Proficient in computer literacy.
- Proficient in report writing.
- Advanced skills in handling and resolving technical problems
