Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be in charge of the Financial Reporting department and will work in close collaboration with your members as well as members of other departments of the division. You will be responsible for effectively managing financial reporting activities, which include producing monthly financial statements, coordinating the month-end process, overseeing internal and external audits, and handling all other reporting and accounting-related tasks.
You will work closely with the Head office Finance department in accordance with the guidelines, policies and procedures provided by the corporate Finance department. You will act as a main contact for the Nunavut divisions.
- Responsible of the entire Finance team’s compliance with Agnico Eagle Mines Limited’s Accounting Standards and compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures;
- Responsible of the accuracy and timeliness of the closing and reporting of the divisional books on a monthly and a quarterly basis;
- Supervise the work performed by the accounting teams to maintain good productivity, maximize resource utilization, meet deadlines, and ensure quality work;
- Support management in strategic decision-making and in achieving process and accounting and financial practice optimization objectives;
- Identify and actively contribute to process improvement to promote best operational practices;
- Manage administrative matters such as property taxes, WSCC, insurance, R&D, relations with government and institutional bodies, and other projects supporting the Nunavut divisions;
- Make sure of the collaboration of all allowing the internal and external auditors to express their opinion. Ensure the follow up and the action plan required on any recommandations;
- Responsible to develop and update the SOX controls and supporting the departments in respecting and ensuring compliance to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act;
- Work closely with the finance groups of the Canadian divisions and the corporate office;
- Responsible to document accounting position during planning exercises (budget, forecast, SLoM, etc.) in accordance with Accounting Standards and compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures;
- Work closely with the Nunavut FP&A group to ensure proper documentation of accounting topics related to planning exercises (budget, forecast, SLoM, etc.);
- Set objectives for the department;
- Organize and lead departmental meetings and attend all other important meetings related to the functions;
- Evaluate the performance of department members and propose promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures as appropriate;
- Plan the workforce needs of the department and participate in the selection of new employees when required;
- Manage and mentor the team, providing guidance and support as needed;
- Participate to the Collaboration committee meeting;
- Provide support to the Finance Manager for any other analysis required.
What You Need To Succeed
- Have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and be a member of a professional designation (CPA);
- Minimum 7 years of experience in financial reporting (experience with multi-national companies or with;
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (IFRS) or/and the mining business;
- Master the complete accounting cycle;
- Capacity to develop and maintain partnership in the business;
- Relevant experience in process improvement;
- Capacity to deploy targets and oriented towards the results and the action;
- Analytical profile able to take decision;
- Strong team management, delegation, and communication skills;
- Be dynamic, proactive, and have a sense of initiative;

Note that the official working language of our Nunavut operations is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in either Val-d’Or, Rouyn-Noranda or Mirabel, QC. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
