ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent 9-day fortnight working arrangement, working across the Boddington Bauxite Mine and Collie Refinery Boddington is located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour). Collie is located (15 minutes) from Bunbury and other nearby scenic communities.
As the Aboriginal Engagement Advisor with South32 this role is part of a team dedicated to enhancing South32 Worsley’s cultural capability, engaging with communities and stakeholders to increase awareness and access to opportunities, maximizing Aboriginal engagement and employment, supporting cultural initiatives and advancing the organisation’s broader diversity and inclusion objectives.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Build rapport and connection with people from different backgrounds and communicate subject matter in ways that are easily understood
- Provide culturally appropriate advice and training to leadership and teams ensuring work practices are respectful, inclusive and aligned with cultural protocols.
- Provide input and support for First Nations workforce strategies, including attracting, onboarding and retention processes.
- Work with South32 Worsley, First Nations stakeholders and communities – both internal and external - on projects and opportunities to grow diversity within Worsley.
- Facilitate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) activities aligned to Fist Nations employment objectives for the site.
- Act as a mentor or coach for First Nations employees, providing support and guidance to foster career growth and cultural connection within the organisation.
ABOUT YOU
- Possess Heavy industry/operations/mining experience
- Deep understanding of First Nations cultural practices
- Possess community and stakeholder engagement
- Drive cultural change
- Have strong planning and administrative skills (with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Excel, Word, Outlook) and capable of managing multiple tasks with tight time frames.
- Possess a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Relevant tertiary education is preferred, but not essential.
- 3-5 years of industry experience as an Aboriginal Engagement Advisor or similar.
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and businesses.
