Assistant – Assayer.
About The Role
Reporting to the Specialist Laboratory Crew – Leader/Supervisor – Assay Laboratory. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and will be responsible for correct using of reagents and able to operate equipment correctly as well as to recognize instrument and machine malfunctions and departures from safe practices
In This Role, You Will
- Required to carry out sampling in a safe and efficient manner
- Assist and supervise new employees, especially Sample Preparers
- Use procedures to get the job done, ensuring that improvements to the procedures are captured and changes made accordingly
- Work in a manner that will not endanger self or any other person/equipment and communicate effectively across all levels
- Must be able to take directions and have a proactive approach towards the role
- Maintain high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- Have a minimum of Diploma in Science or Tertiary education in related discipline
- Have good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Accurately read and transcribe text and numbers
- Know basic computer skills
- Be strong and fit, capable of doing physical work and lifting heavy sample bags
- Be able to work with minimum supervision
- Laboratory working experience would be an advantage
- Be trustworthy and reliable
- Have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (Acquired within the last 6 months)
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Award position, a site-based role on a Walk in Walk out arrangement with rotation of 14 days on and 7 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Must be a Local Porgeran (Cat 1A – SML, Cat 1B –LMP or Cat 2 – Other Porgera) candidate and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
