About The Opportunity
Centerra Gold is looking to hire an Exploration Geologist within our British Columbia based generative exploration team. The successful candidate will participate in planning and executing multiple early-stage programs exploring for a variety of deposit types, including orogenic gold and Cu-Au porphyry targets.
This position is a 5-month Fixed-Term Contract, with possibility for an extension. Flexible work schedule on a 14x14 basis, 12 hours per day, possibility for rotations and field time will be flexible to best accommodate exploration opportunities. Role is based in Central British Columbia.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Overseeing exploration activities including geological/geotechnical logging, core cutting, etc.
- Safety management and leadership
- Supervising and liaising with exploration employees and contractors (drilling, geophysical, etc.)
- Assessing lithology, alteration and mineralization in orogenic gold and Cu-Au porphyry systems
- Reviewing drill core logs and data provided by geological and geotechnical staff
- Providing information for weekly progress reports to management
- Planning and facilitating drilling programs (monitoring drilling progress and requirements including personnel, deciding drill hole terminations, assisting in drill hole planning)
- Coordinating with on-site surveyors and drillers for surveying collars, building roads/pads
- Managing drill hole logging software and database system used to collect and file information
- Routinely generating and reviewing interpretive plans and sections, on paper and digitally
- Prospecting and mapping of target areas, geochemical sampling (rock, soil, silt, till)
- Deposit modelling using relevant software
- Analysis and modelling of geochemical data from drilling or surface samples using relevant software
- Documenting/developing standard operating procedures and instructing/training new hires
- Recording/tabulating Health & Safety statistics (in-house and contractor) on weekly basis for monthly reporting
- Ensuring compliance with Provincial, Corporate health & safety and environmental regulations and policies (includes incident reporting, conducting toolbox meetings, etc.)
- Supporting the Exploration Manager and Superintendent in their duties and responsibilities (targeting, technical presentations, reporting, etc.)
About You
The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:
- Geology or geoscience related university degree(s)
- Active member (P.Geo.) of EGBC or equivalent provincial/territorial professional association preferred
- Minimum 5 years work experience in mineral exploration and/or production geology
- Sound level of computer literacy with previous exposure to Windows Office products
- Working knowledge and experience with geological databases, GIS systems, or modeling applications (ArcGIS, MapInfo, Leapfrog, IoGas, AcQuire)
- Valid Canadian Driver’s License
- An unwavering commitment to workplace safety
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional attitude, teamwork-oriented collaboration and problem-solving skills in a respectful and safety-oriented environment, good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
