Shift Length: 10.5 hours

Job Summary
The primary role of the Alimak Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to the mechanized raise climber.
General
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be able to troubleshoot
- Repair / Rebuild and maintain (Alimak) Mechanized raise climbers.
- Repair and maintain Air and Hydraulic drills.
- Must be able to maintain and repair the Alimak motors, brakes and use specialized tools to test and effect repairs
- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve the problem
- Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage

Health And Safety
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
- Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
- Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Journeyman level qualification (trade school or college diploma)
Work Experience
- Knowledge of mining industry
- 3 years maintenance and repairs to underground mining equipment
- Extensive knowledge and experience on the installation of the following Alimak Component
- G-5 Safety Device, motors, brakes, gear boxes, control valves – repairing and rebuilding
- Repairing the hose reels, bean pumps, shafts, bearings, check wear limits on the worn gears, pinions, U-Frame rails.
- Experience in synchronizing of gears
- Knowledge and experience with rigging/slinging large, heavy components in close confinements
