ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent full-time position that is DIDO daily, from our Worsley Alumina Refinery, which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities. You will be working on a continuous shift roster DS/NS including weekends.
Reporting to the Refinery Coordinator / Senior Refinery Coordinator, as Control Room Specialist you will safely execute production activities from the Central Control Room and monitor the Refinery operations. The Control Room Specialist is accountable for managing the process parameters, collaborating and coordinating with the Area Operational teams to achieve the safe daily production targets. This role will collaborate with peers and colleagues to safely execute production tasks, and undertake/implement improvement project work in order to enhance the performance of the Central Control Room and the Refinery Operations. The Control Room Specialist will provide training and standardisation of performance across the shift teams (including Area Operations).
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Management and coordination of day-to-day activities within area of accountabilities to meet daily production targets whilst achieving planned work objectives.
- Proactive refinery monitoring against KPIs and targets to improve performance and avoid process disruptions. Management of deviations against targets. Work closely with Shift Engineering team to improve adherence to KPIs.
- Communication and escalation of process or equipment issues to provide a safe and stable operation.
- Provide training to less experienced Control Room Specialists and back-up controllers from the Area.
- Participate in outage planning and abnormal operational process plans to provide operational input and practical application of plans. Suggest ways to achieve plan with the best area outcome for process and personnel. Develop process outage plans and recovery plans in conjunction with shift engineering team.
- Apply professional behaviour standards and engage professionally with stakeholders – e.g. self-awareness, approachability, written and verbal communication quality.

- Strong communication skills
- Capable in analysing and interpreting complex data
- Demonstrates sound judgement and the ability.
- Skilled in problem solving and fault finding.
- Demonstrated Control Room and field-based experience with sound knowledge of the Area of operation.
