Indian Truck Drivers Upset Over Driving Restrictions

Due to a legal ruling, mining truck owners in South Goa, India, now must operate under restricted operating times. The Goa mining truck owners’ association told the Times of India that the only alternative would be suicide due to the heavy losses the drivers will endure.

“Based on a recent high court judgment, the state government has issued a notification in South Goa which restricts timings for mining trucks to operate in the district from 8am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm. And the state is also in the process of implementing the same timings in North Goa. There are no timings specified on our truck permits or our RC books,” the association’s president, Nilkanth Jairam Gauns, said.
