Mining’s old guard needs strong medicine
A new report details subpar investor returns in the mining industry over the last decade, particularly big cap diversified companies which have not adapted to new realities.
Many states in India has increased load shedding or power cuts to avoid total blackout due to lower availability of coal to generate electricity. To meet the growing gap between the reguirements and its domestic availabilty, the government has assigned the thermal power stations designed on indigenous coal to import 35 million tons of coal for 2011-12.
