Two bids made for Glencore stake in New Caledonia’s Koniambo Nickel
KNS halted its operations in March after Glencore decided to sell its 49% interest.
Underwater mining off Nome, Alaska, draws up to 50 boats in the summer, small independent operators looking for placer gold in ocean water just above freezing.
Ian Foster narrates a YouTube video showing how his team operates. Being independent, a lot of solutions are improvised. To keep the divers warm, Foster shows off a jury-rigged hot water circulation system using the engine’s manifold.
Several hours of diving is tiring and the work is monotonous, says Foster, but the lure of gold keeps the miners coming back.
“Once you’ve seen gold, once you’ve been paid in gold, once you’ve used gold for currency, you see things a little different.”

Well I agree with Ron Pauls and others that Gold is and will remain a currency despite what The Fed Chairman says , and is contrary to ancient and current practices… The Federal Reserve is no more than a sytem of monetary enslavement …
