Homeless man gives back $4,000 diamond ring

A homeless man who received a diamond ring worth about $4,000 in his change cup by accident decided against keeping the life-changing gift and instead tracked down the woman who dropped it to return it to her.

Billy Ray Harris was begging for change in Kansas City, when one woman decided to dump in her entire change purse into his cup, forgetting she had taken off her diamond engagement ring earlier and put it in her change purse.

Sarah Darling told Kansas City’s KCTV she didn’t notice until the next day that the ring was gone.

“I was so incredibly upset because, more than just the value of the ring, it had sentimental value,” she told the TV station, adding that she went back to the area the next day, looking for the homeless man.

When asked if he had found something Harris immediately told her he found a ring.

The man said his religious upbringing has had an effect on him.

“My grandfather was a reverend. He raised me from the time I was six months old and thank the good Lord, it’s a blessing, but I do still have some character,” he told the TV station.
