Groundwater modeling short course announced, Niagara Falls

Why should I attend the short course?

The development of a reliable and accurate groundwater model requires two components – a conceptual model and a numerical model. Why not save time, money and frustration by creating them both in the same place?

Visual MODFLOW Flex (VMOD Flex) is a powerful new software that combines 3D conceptual modeling with industry standard numeric engines for groundwater flow and contaminant transport.

Many MODFLOW users spend hours manually fixing their model and tweaking grids to improve convergence and numerical stability. In VMOD Flex, conceptual model data are grid-independent and cell boundary and property assignments are regenerated automatically in minutes. Grid convergence issues are virtually eliminated.

Learn how your models can easily evolve and adapt as they become more complex, or if your objectives change and discover the power of communicating your results effectively with rich 3D visualizations.

This interactive course will include live demos, lectures and case studies that will leave you with a more advanced understanding of 3D conceptual model development and numerical model construction.

Who is presenting?

Wayne Hesch, B.Sc. is the Senior Product Champion for Visual MODFLOW at Schlumberger Water Services. Wayne has completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Waterloo, and the Environmental Engineering Program at Conestoga College. He has been teaching courses on conceptual modeling, groundwater modeling, and water quality data management for public and private organizations around the world for more than seven years.

Jennifer Hurley, M.Sc., P.Geo has a Master’s degree from the University of Waterloo where she studied under Dr. John Cherryand Dr. Beth Parker. Jennifer has 10 years experience in the field of hydrogeology. During this time, she has been a project manager for both consulting and software projects, both in the field and in the office. Her areas of specialization include DNAPL behaviour in fractured porous media and environmental data management. Currently, Jennifer acts as a business analyst and domain expert for the Schlumberger Water Services software group.
