Gold production at US mines down 6 pct in Feb.

Gold mine production in the US was 6% less in February compared to January says the U.S. Geological Survey.

Looking a year back, the drop was also 8% below February 2012’s production.

“Based on unrounded data, the average daily gold production for U.S. mines was 603 kg in February, compared with 630 kg in February 2012, and 631 kg for the full year 2012,” writes the USGS.

The average Englehard price of gold in February was $1,631.93, down from $114.78 a year ago.
