Toronto-based Galleon Gold (TSXV: GGO) announced that it has started baseline studies and permitting plans for its West Cache gold project in Ontario, Canada.
“Commencing the process at this early stage will ensure that all critical path items required for the submission of a mine closure plan will be completed by the time the company is ready to proceed with a bulk sample,” Galleon said in a media statement.
“Story Environmental has initiated the baseline water sampling program and established groundwater and hydrogeology monitoring sites. Additionally, geochemistry and initial archeological studies are also underway.”
According to the miner, the permitting of the project is a multi-faceted process that will require a significant amount of time for planning, data collection and consultation.
West Cache was formerly known as the Timmins Porcupine West project. It is located in Bristol and Ogden Townships in Ontario’s District of Cochrane.
The 3,200-hectare property consists of 265 unpatented mining units and 11 patented mining claims, which are approximately 7 kilometres northeast of Pan American Silver’s Timmins West mine and 14 kilometres southwest of Newmont’s Hollinger mine.
West Cache has as a target model “The Hollinger-McIntyre-Coniaurum System,” which has produced over 30 million ounces of gold and is spatially associated with the Pearl Lake Porphyry.
