FLSmidth wins order for a coal handling project in India

FLSmidth has been awarded a contract worth approximately EUR 25m (approximately DKK 180m) by Jhabua Power Ltd. for the supply and installation of the first phase of a 1,800 tons per hour coal handling plant for their upcoming power plant project at Jhabua in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. Jhabua Power Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Avantha Power & Infrastructure Limited.

The order constitutes the first phase of the project. FLSmidth has also received a letter of intent on phase two of the project and it will, if it becomes an effective contract within 12 months, have an additional value of approximately EUR 10m (approximately DKK 70m).

The contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, fabrication, supply, testing and transportation to site on turnkey basis. The order entails the supply of wagon tipplers, apron feeders, stackers and reclaimers, a belt conveyor system, ring granulators, vibrating grizzly Feeders and Trippers. In the supply is also FLSmidth electrical and air pollution control equipment including a dust suppression and extraction system to ensure that all pollution control requirements are met.

“All core equipment supplies are FLSmidth’s own products and the order reinforces the strength of FLSmidth as a one source supplier of complete solutions. FLSmidth is currently executing a contract awarded by the same customer, Avantha Power, to FLSmidth in 2010 for a coal handling plant and the recent order marks a repeat order from the customer. We are proud to see that our customers favour us as their One Source supplier,” Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen, FLSmidth says.
