First photos of $136m diamond-jewels stolen in Cannes

Lloyds of London will publish Wednesday the first images of some of the $136 million worth of diamonds and other jewels stolen in July from the Carlton Intercontinental Hotel in Cannes.

The heist, considered one of Europe’s biggest jewellery robberies in recent years, was initially estimated by police to be worth €40 million ($53 million), but the Dubai-based organizer of the diamond show has since raised the value based on a more complete inventory to about $136 million.

In a statement, Lloyds — a giant in the insurance market—, offered a €1 million ($1.3m) reward for information that effectively leads to the arrest of the thieves, reports Agence France-Presse.

You can see some of the gems stolen at The Telegraph’s preview.
