Caterpillar announces the launch of a 24/7 equipment operator monitoring service to provide customers the power to see, mitigate and manage the primary variable impacting their operations―the human factor.

The new Cat® 16M3 Motor Grader features engineering enhancements that boost fuel economy, increase structural durability, simplify maintenance, add operator convenience and promote the safety of both the operator and those around the machine. The German Ibbenbüren mine is adding a second Cat® GH800B Longwall Plow System to recover its thin seam of anthracite coal—averaging only 1.04 meters thick. RAG Anthrazit Ibbenbüren GmbH placed the order for a second system based on the productive performance of the first Cat GH800B system.

In July 2014 Caterpillar will deliver the first of two complete Cat® longwall mining systems to the Soma Eynez East mine of Demir Export A.S. – Fernas Insaat A.S. Joint Venture. Both longwall systems are designed for longwall top coal caving (LTCC) in a coal seam with an average thickness of 25 meters (82 feet).

A coal mine located in southern West Virginia (USA) recently set another world record for daily low-seam coal production using a Cat® automated longwall plow system.
