Gina Rinehart sued by daughter

Billionaire iron ore heiress Gina Rinehart is being sued in the NSW Supreme Court by her daughter, Hope Welker. The nature of Welker’s claim is currently unknown, and Rinehart’s legal team is seeking to keep the matter confidential. Rinehart’s barrister, Alan Sullivan, QC, told the court the application had been made because of “the impact on commercial negotiations”.

Lynas signs supply contract with BASF

Lynas Corporation has signed a long term rare earths supply agreement with BASF. The contract will see Lynas provide the materials from its Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) in Malaysia for BASF’s Fluid Catalytic Cracking business, which uses lanthanum.

Macmahon win Tropicana Gold contract

Macmahon Holdings have won a 10-year mining contract to develop the Tropicana Gold project. Worth an estimated $900 million, the contract includes mine planning, drill and blast, load and haul, crusher feed and other associated works.

Calls to stop Central Coast coal mining

The Federal member for Wyong has called on the State Government to ban all coal mining in the region. Dobell Federal Labor MP Craig Thomson said the government must legislate “to stop coal mining once and for all in the valleys of Wyong Shire”, according to the Express Advocate.
